How BIN lookups work and what data they return.
When you enter a BIN, our system queries a database of 500,000+ registered BIN ranges, cross-referenced with ISO 3166 country data and card network allocation records. Results are edge-cached on Cloudflare's global network for sub-10ms responses.
A BIN lookup identifies the card issuer and type from just the first 6–8 digits. It is not the same as full card validation (which checks number, expiry, and CVV). BIN lookups are safe, non-sensitive, and do not require PCI compliance.
A BIN lookup cannot verify whether a specific card is active, has available balance, or belongs to a legitimate cardholder. It only identifies the card program metadata associated with the issuer's BIN range.
For automated BIN lookups in your application, use our free REST API at /api/lookup/:bin. It returns the same data as this tool in JSON format, with CORS headers, edge caching, and no authentication required.

Common questions about looking up BIN numbers online.
A BIN number lookup is the process of querying a card issuer database with the first 6–8 digits of a payment card to retrieve the card scheme, issuing bank, country of issue, and card type. It is used in fraud prevention, payment routing, and checkout validation.
Our BIN database covers 500,000+ registered ranges and is updated regularly. Accuracy is very high for established card ranges. Newly issued BINs may have a short delay before appearing in the database.
For bulk BIN lookups, use our free REST API at /api/lookup/:bin. The API supports programmatic access with no authentication. For very high-volume use cases, edge caching (86,400 seconds) means repeated lookups of the same BIN are served instantly.
A BIN lookup returns the card scheme, issuing bank name, country (name, ISO alpha-2/alpha-3 codes, ISD calling code, continent), card type (credit/debit/prepaid), card tier (classic/gold/platinum), and Luhn algorithm validity.
Some newer, regional, or recently allocated BIN ranges may not yet be in the database. A 404 response means the BIN was not found. Try with 6 digits if a longer input returns no data — shorter BIN ranges may have broader matches.
